RELEVANTNE PSIHOTERAPIJSKE METODE U DETRAUMATIZACIJI MIGRANATA
doc. dr. sc. Azra Peterschik

RELEVANT PSYCH-THERAPEUTIC METHODS IN DETRAUMATISING OF MIGRANTS

ABSTRACT

In this paper the results of research of relevant therapeutic methods in detraumatising of migrants have been presented. The decision to start with the subject research has been brought as the result oft the long-year experience in treating numerous refugees and people seeking asylum having problems of psychological nature. Also, increasing of general sensibility to give professional support has appeared due to great movement of people worldwide. The relevant research was done in 1999 year consulting ten distinguished experts in the field of trauma. The long-year professional contacts with these experts have remained as well as their psycho-therapeutic methods have been recognized and established throughout Europe and the world. Consequently, from the point of view of of mentioned experts the same recognized therapy is used presently though beside actual problems the appropriate attention has not been given. However, including mentioned distinguished experts, that is, well known and recognized practioners and theorists does not mean an attempt to give preference to one in relation to another therapeutic method, nor is simply adding to so far achieved positive results, but by consulting papers experiences of these experts we have endeavored to create base for studying and possible further empiric research aiming to optimize psycho-therapy of high traumatized migrants, refugees, displaced persons with already developed PTSD.
Key words: migrants, displaced persons, psycho-therapy, detraumatising.
